Glimpse

A photographic image is merely a moment frozen in time and whilst the tools of a photographer may control the duration of that moment, it is our minds as a viewer that take it from there, filling in the moments before and after to create a narrative and imbue an emotion.

Ambiguity in the image can dim reality and fuel the imagination. It's one of the reasons why I am often drawn to abstract and ambiguous images that prompt the question 'what?' rather than 'where?'

Glimpse is a collection of such images. Born from an idea whilst carrying out a simple DIY task and inspired by a love of science fiction and fantasy movies. The images offer a glimpse that sparks the imagination, inviting the viewer to create their own narrative. Muted metallic tones, a wide aspect ratio and embracing the inherent grain add to the cinematic quality.

Whilst editing this collection I would find, aided by any number of movie soundtracks playing in my headphones, my imagination would be constructing worlds around these narrow perspectives of reality.
